Janice M. Henley (nee Rhoads), 89, of Pottstown passed away Wednesday September 27th and is now in Heaven and reunited with her beloved Rudy. Born in Pottstown she was the devoted wife of Rudy Henley and daughter of the late Charles G. Rhoads and Esther Mae Rhoads (Groff).
Along with her parents and husband Rudy, of 59 years, she was preceded in death by a sister Doris. Surviving are daughters Jill, wife of Dean Shaffer of Chester Springs; Beth, wife of Steve Lenko and Andrea, wife of Ray Roberts, both of Pottstown; son Jeff, husband of Lynda of Willow Grove; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Janice was an avid reader and book lover, talented seamstress and loved nothing more than Jesus, Rudy and her family. She loved having company and opening her home to everyone. Hosting family dinners, picnics and birthday parties were special times for her and everyone who was there. She treated her family as friends and all her friends as family.
She could always be found wearing an apron while working on a puzzle, doing a crossword puzzle, knitting or writing a letter.
She was a devoted Grandmother and loved taking trips with her grandchildren, while recording every detail and typing up trip diaries for each of them, or loaning them books from “Grandmom’s Library”, and making sure they were all returned.
She will be missed by all and lovingly remembered until we are reunited with her.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 5th at 11:00 a.m. at Catagnus Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Inc., 711 N. Franklin St, Pottstown with her son Jeff officiating. Burial will follow in Limerick Garden of Memories. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to: Alzheimer’s Assoc, Greater Philadelphia Chapter 2595 Interstate Drive Suite 100 Harrisburg, PA 17110.
