Add My Condolences

Alma and I worked together at Boyertown Elementary School for the greater part of my teaching career. Secretaries often “run” the school and that was true about Alma however you didn’t know it because she was content to remain in the background. I remember one day, at least ten years into my career at BES, I came into the office and told her about an error she had made. She agreed and I said, “I think that is the first error you made since I’ve been at the school.” She assured me that she wasn’t that perfect. While she may not have been that perfect she did, in fact, make our school run smoothly. She could make decisions but she was exceptional at doing what her principal asked of her.

During the 31 years I served as school principal, Alma was the school secretary. Her knowledge, efficiency, dedication and loyalty supported by her true caring for the students and school staff had our school always running smoothly. I could always count on her to make wise decisions and to be supportive and engaging with parents and visitors. Thank you Alma, you made BES the best!
