Barbara Kathleen Evans, 77

Barbara Kathleen Evans, 77, of Pottstown, PA, passed onto her heavenly home, joining her Lord on Tuesday, October 10, 2023. She was surrounded by her loving family at the home of her brother, Thomas and Vicki Evans in Mohnton, PA.

Barbara was born in Pottstown, PA on May 17, 1946. She was the daughter to the late Densel D. and Elsie (Sahagian) Evans. Barbara is survived by her sister; Judy (Evans), wife of Charles King of Cape May, NJ, and two brothers, Thomas Evans Sr., husband to Vicki (Twaddell) of Mohnton, PA and Gary Evans, husband of Sharon (Mertz) of Lusby, MD.

Although Barbara did not have any children of her own, her family, especially nieces and nephews were the center of her life in which she adored and cherished to the bottom of her heart! Her Nieces/Nephews; Kevin (Margaret) and Michael (Kimberly) King (children of Judy/Charles King), Thomas Jr. (Danielle), Jessica and Alyssa Evans (children of Thomas/Vicki Evans), & Ryan and Rachel Evans (children of Gary/Sharon Evans). As well as her great nieces/nephews; Megan, Renee and Jacob King (children of Kevin/Margaret King), Cara King (daughter of Michael/Kimberly King), & Cecilia and Rowan Evans (children of Thomas Jr. /Danielle Evans).

Over the last 18 years, she resided with her dear friend, Alice Seidts in Pottstown, PA whom has been a family life-long friend from First United Methodist Church in Pottstown, PA. Barbara was an avid animal lover, most importantly to her “Sunshine” orange Tabby that was beloved by her and Alice together.

Barbara retired in 2016 from Jones Motor group of Limerick, PA after 27 years. Barb enjoyed the friendships she made with colleagues that lasted throughout the years and created many memories. Barb had the amazing idea of planting a memorial tree outside of the office in honor of their co-workers/friends that had passed, in which now she can be memorialized herself in by all.

Barbara had many passions from her remarkable and beautiful cross stitch craftsmanship that has won awards, knitting special pieces for family and friends, her love of completing puzzles, baking her delectable assorted pies, cookies and carrying on her mother’s Armenian tradition of her family’s favorite chorag and Armenian Cookies.

Barbara’s strong faith in God was always present in her daily life as was her dedication to her church. She was born into the First United Methodist Church of Pottstown, PA with her family. She stayed a devoted and active Methodist to that church that continued onto Cedarville United Methodist Church of Pottstown, PA after the merger. She always made bible study a priority each week for herself and fellow parishioners as well as being part of VBS, Logos, cooking for the community, and so much more.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at 11:00AM at Cedarville United Methodist Church (1092 Laurelwood Rd, Pottstown, PA 19465) with Rev. Sherry Lantz officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Pottstown. A viewing will also be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, from 10:00-11:00AM at the church.

In lieu of flowers, Barbara and the family are asking for donations to either Cedarville United Methodist Church or Mission First, both of Pottstown, PA.

Judy, it is with great sadness to hear about the loss of your sister and friend, Barbara. Nancy and I shared many memories during Barbara's visits to your home in Springfield and Cape May, particularly during the holidays. I so looked forward to her wonderful homemade Armenian cookies, Chorag. She never disappointed me. Barbara would sit quietly doing her craftwork and just watch you running around in many directions in amazement. Ok, now who is going to make the cookies?

Barb and I worked together from 1988 until she retired from Jones Motor. To say she was a cherished co-worker does not begin to describe what a good and giving friend and human being she was. She was a quiet, sweet person who could have a wicked sense of humor as razor sharp as one of her cross stitch needles. We shared many great conversations, great laughs and great chocolate chip cookies, coffee cake and popcorn that she provided. God bless you my dear friend. Rest in peace and strength and glory.
