Burlyn “Butch” Moyer, 86

Burlyn “Butch” Moyer, 86, of Gilbertsville, husband of Joan Ann (Weller) Moyer of 64 years, passed away Thursday November 2, 2023 at the Reading Hospital.

Born in Gilbertsville, he was the son of the late Herbert Moyer and Helen Harpel.

Butch served in the US Army. He was a member of the New Hanover Fire Company where he previously served at Chief Engineer. Butch had a passion for NASCAR and enjoyed fishing at the Delaware shore. He worked for Swann Oil for many years.

Surviving along with his wife is his son Jeffrey Moyer husband of Cindy; daughters Wendy Cronk wife of Ronald and Valerie Gery wife of Kevin; grandchildren Jaidyn and Kaylee Gery; step-grandchildren Cody Cox and Dustin Hammer; 6 step-great grandchildren; and brother Ronald Moyer.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday November 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, LLC., 1020 E. Philadelphia Ave., Gilbertsville, PA 19525. Interment will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Sassamansville. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 10:00-10:45 AM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Butch’s memory to New Hanover Twp. Fire & Rescue, 2154 Swamp Pike, Gilbertsville, PA 19525, Attn: Memorial Fund.

It was always a pleasure seeing Butch when he came in to see Jeff at Freed's. I always enjoyed talking with him. I can only imagine how hard it is to lose him so unexpectedly, but I hope that eventually you will be able to focus on all the good memories.

I’m so very sorry about your dad. I lost my dad two years ago and still miss him greatly. It’s not easy but I pray your memories will keep you going. He sounded like a wonderful man. Prayers to you all.
