Donald Henry Mace, 90, of Gilbertsville, passed away November 16, 2023. He was the husband of Suzanne Eileen Mace, with whom he shared 68 years of marriage.
He was born in Pottstown, the son of George K., Sr. and Mary (Zezenski) Mace. He was a graduate of Pottstown High School and Lancaster Bible College. He was the proud business owner of Don Mace Signs for 63 years in Pottstown. He crafted beautiful award-winning hand-lettered, carved, and neon signs throughout his career. When out and about in recent years he pointed out business signs he had made in the past. Many of his creations are still seen in the greater Tri-County area.
He was also a proud Korean War Veteran of the US Army. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal as well as the Good Conduct Medal. He continued to serve in the Army Reserves for an additional 8 years.
Donald was a long-time member of Trinity E.C. Church in Boyertown. He especially loved bus trips, the NJ shore and visiting Lancaster for day trips with his wife Suzanne. He was a quiet and gentle man, who also had a witty sense of humor. He was a life-long WWF wrestling fan, and he scheduled his TV time around the WWF matches. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Suzanne, he is survived by his daughter, Laurie (Mace) Curran and her husband, Edward; son, Donald and his wife, Kim; grandchildren Christopher Clark, husband of Alexis; Deirdre Jonas, wife of Ryan; Zachary Mace, husband of Lauren, and great-grandchildren, Kayden Clark, David, Kaylee and Joshua Mace, and Genevieve and Theodore Jonas; brothers Doug Mace, husband of Sylvia, Ronald Mace, husband of Oksana, and sister Kathryn Kenner. He was predeceased in death by his daughter, Rhonda Michelle Clark, who passed away earlier this year, and his grandson, Sean David Clark. Along with his parents, he was also predeceased in death by his brothers, George K., Jr., Daniel, David, Robert, and Dennis Mace; and his sisters, Barbara Davidheiser, Mary Ann Machukas, Jane Dougherty, and Joanne Moyer.
A celebration of life will be held December 1st, 2023, at Trinity E.C. Church, 250 Swinehart Rd., Boyertown. The family will receive visitors from 10:30 am to 12 noon with funeral service to immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Donald’s memory to Trinity E.C. Church. Burial will be private.
