James “Eagle” Sarla, 72

James “Eagle” Sarla, 72, of Boyertown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at his home in Boyertown after a year-long illness.

Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Ralph M. Sarla and Marjorie (Hackitt) Sarla. The family then moved to Ramsey, New Jersey for several years. Jim was a young teenager when the family moved to Collegeville, Pennsylvania. In his younger years, he ran track, was a member of a car club, played baseball, darts, and bowled. Jim's favorite sports teams were the Flyers, Steelers and of course, Penn State, which he attended. He was an avid reader and loved socializing with friends. No one could miss his voice when he was in the room. He touched more lives than he knew.

Jim retired in 2016 from Global Advanced Metals, formerly Cabot Corp, after 40+ years of service. His father also retired from Cabot having worked there since it was Kawecki Berylco.

Surviving is his sister Lynn Sarla-Kubovetz, wife of William of Orlando, FL; and numerous cousins around the country.

No services are planned at this time, but he would love a glass raised or charitable contribution made in his honor. Fly High Eagle!

Add My Condolences

Eagle,
We worked together over 40 years, different shifts most of the time , me in the lab and you in production, but my memories are mostly of our times in the O’s and Spunktown and your booming hello and always buying us drinks every time we came in, you will be missed greatly!! May you rest in peace!! Don Ritter

RIP my good friend! I've known Eagle since our Earlville Tavern days! Many memories of socializing, shooting darts and especially playing softball! A loyal friend and teammate! I still remember the time he and I tried to cook Thanksgiving dinner together! What a show that was!!! I think there might have been beer involved! Soar to the heavens, buddy!
