Robert “Bob” B. Evans, 75

Robert “Bob” B. Evans, 75, husband of the late Cathy (Rockwell) Evans, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2024, at his home in Blandon.

Born in Pottstown, he was the son of the late Franklin and Betty (Rhoads) Howerter.

Bob loved his job at New Penn. He was a teamster and was proud of that. Bob was a big sports fan. He enjoyed watching the Phillies, Eagles, Penn State, and NASCAR. He especially liked to cheer for Kyle Busch. Bob loved going to Canada to go fishing. He was a longtime member of Friendship Hook & Ladder Fire Co. and the Boyertown Orioles. He always enjoyed socializing with his longtime friends from the Boyertown area.

Surviving is his daughter Christine Preston, significant other of Ray Cushman; daughter Wendy Matthai, wife of Erich; brothers Donald Evans and Larry Evans, significant other of Peggy Angstadt; sister Carol McFadden, wife of Thomas; grandchildren Michael Wilkinson and Matthew O’Blosser. He is predeceased by his beloved dog Belle.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at 11:00AM at Catagnus Funeral Home (1020 E. Philadelphia Ave., Gilbertsville, PA 19525) with Pastor Scott Staub officiating. Burial will be held privately by the family at a later date. A visitation will also be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, from 9:00-11:00AM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Animal Rescue League of Berks County (58 Kennel Rd, Birdsboro, PA 19508) in Bob’s name.

Bob was not only a great employee he was a guy who always went over and above.He was also a good friend.

Bob was a good friend and coworker, I’ve known him since ‘87. Actually he talked me out of quitting while I was waiting to get on the seniority list at New Penn!
