Born in Royersford, he was the son of the late Sebastian and Edith Alexander.
Louis was a sports enthusiast since he was young. He was a star 3-sport athlete at Royersford High School where he graduated with the class of 1953. During all 4 years of high school, he played varsity baseball, football, and basketball. “Louie” was also an accomplished journeyman boxer in local boxing leagues as a young adult. He and Mary Ann loved supporting their children and grandchildren’s sporting events over the years and never missed games. He and Mary Ann traveled with grandchildren accompanying family with many enjoyable trips to Ocean City Maryland, Wildwood, Walt Disney World, Niagara Falls, Mohegan Sun, and the Connecticut River Valley.
Lou had a 34-year career at The West Company (West Pharmaceutical Services) where he held various positions until his retirement. He then held several part time jobs over the years until he was 79. “Going to work” was who he was until only 10 years before his passing.
Surviving along with his wife, Mary Ann of 63 years, are his children Kim Gagliardi, wife of Michael, and his son Michael Alexander, husband of Mary; grandchildren Renee Gagliardi and Michael L. Gagliardi. He is predeceased by his siblings Carmella Bullick, Joseph Alexander, Rosemary Pesta, and Mary Boeshore.
