George M. Versak, 65

George M. Versak (“Bopper”), 65, husband of Charlene M. (Murray) Versak, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, in Pottstown.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late George and Sandra (Barna) Versak.

George was a true family man. He loved to be with his wife, often enjoying hiking adventures and exploring new places together. He was always making us laugh with his silly sense of humor. He was a very proud father who never missed a game or a chance to support his kids. Whether it was an ice hockey game (Aron), field hockey (Lex), or a race (Lauren), he would always be cheering the loudest. He had a great work ethic and took so much pride in every project. No matter how sore he was at the end of a work day, he would still get down on the ground and play with his grandkids, whom he adored. They were the apple of his eye. He loved to be around people, and to know him was to love him. His wonderful personality was contagious to everyone he met. George loved to fish and spend time outdoors, and he especially loved going to the Point Breeze cabin to spend time with lifelong friends. He loved to sing, especially Elvis, and was always the entertainment at family gatherings. He was very active in the church and always reminded people how blessed he was. George had a heart of gold and truly loved to help others. He had an uncanny ability to find happiness in his daily activities. He had a passion for food, often declaring each meal at a new restaurant as the “best thing he’s ever tasted.” His loved ones will continue to honor his legacy by living life to the fullest, and always remembering to enjoy the simple things.

Surviving along with his wife Charlene of 39 years, are his children Aron Versak, husband of Lauren, and his daughter Alexis Versak; brother Bill Versak, husband of Dianne; sister Lynn (Versak) Avellino; grandchildren Averie and Ryleigh Versak. He is predeceased by his sister Joanne Versak.

A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at 12:00Noon at St. Teresa of Calcutta Church (256 Swamp Pike, Schwenksville, PA 19473) with Fr. Paul Brandt officiating. Burial will be held privately by the family at a later date. A visitation will also be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, from 9:30AM-12:00PM at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Response Crew (https://responsecrew.org/) in George’s name.

Even though it’s been several years since our girls were WCU Rams, we all spent four years each fall together cheering, eating, laughing, crying and enjoying each other’s company. From the minute I met George and Char, instantly I was made welcome. George’s smile, his constant positive attitude, and his love for you Char, his children, and later in his grandchildren was boundless. Although I haven’t seen George and Char in a while, Lex and Dayle have remained friends and that says it all.
George, continue to radiate that smile and warmth from heaven above, I will be praying for peace and comfort for your family. Rest easy George, we will all continue to pay your kindness and love forward here on Earth. Until we meet again,
Love,
Pat Cahill

I haven’t seen George in 10-12 years but everything in this epitaph is exactly how I remember him. He was the 1st guy I worked with at Thompson Masonry and he was the easiest guy to get to know especially the fact I just returned from active duty service and Thompson was my 1st job I got and George was the guy that guided me thru getting used to working in civilian employment ?? his Elvia impression ??

George was one of the kindest, friendliest and just a great person to be around. I had the pleasure of going all through school with him at Methacton. He was a joy to be around. May his memory be a blessing.

George did love to sing. He enjoyed singing in choir at church and we loved having him as part of the group. But I would have loved to have heard him sing Elvis! I am so sorry for your loss.
