Suzanne Eileen Mace, 87

Suzanne Eileen (Kirby) Mace, 87, of Gilbertsville, passed away March 21, 2024.

She was the wife of Donald Henry Mace, with whom she shared 68 years of marriage. She was born in Pottstown, the daughter of Charles M. and Susan (Alting) Kirby. She was a graduate of North Coventry High School in 1954. Suzanne had a real love for music and was a member of the glee club throughout high school. She wrote the words and music for the 1954 class song. The yearbook featured her as the most musical in her senior class. She was an accomplished pianist and organist and played as a school accompanist as well as in church. She was known to write a lot of letters in her senior year, as Donald was away serving during the Korean War. Suzanne worked as a teller at the original Security Trust Bank at High and Hanover in Pottstown, then at National Bank of Boyertown in Sanatoga, and Harleysville Bank in Limerick. She eventually worked in Donald’s sign business, supporting him in handling the office duties. She was an amazing cook and baker, and for many years loved hosting family dinners. Even when going to family, she always brought lots of delicious food. She was extremely talented at knitting, crocheting, counted cross stitch and quilting. She made beautiful quilts for her children and grandchildren. Suzanne was a long-time member of Trinity E.C. Church in Boyertown and enjoyed participating in the senior activities. She also loved bus trips, the NJ shore, and visiting Lancaster for day trips with Donald. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Suzanne is survived by her daughter, Laurie, and her husband, Edward; son, Donald and his wife, Kim; grandchildren, Christopher Clark, husband of Alexis; Deirdre Jonas, wife of Ryan; Zachary Mace, husband of Lauren, and great-grandchildren, Kayden Clark, David, Kaylee, and Joshua Mace, and Genevieve and Theodore Jonas. Along with her parents, she was predeceased in death by her brother, Charles W. Kirby, her daughter, Rhonda, and her grandson, Sean David Clark.

A celebration of life will be held at Trinity E.C. Church, Boyertown on Thursday April 4, 2024. The family will receive visitors at the church from 12:00 to 12:45 PM. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made be made in Suzanne’s memory to Trinity E.C. Church. Burial will be private.
