Mary Paula Wylie, 68

Mary Paula Wylie “Paula” (Danberg), aged 68, passed away on Tuesday May 14th, 2024. She was born October 21, 1955 in Silver Spring, MD to James Edward Danberg, PhD and Mary Alouise (Conlon) Danberg. Paula was a 1973 graduate of St. Mark’s High School in Wilmington, DE, and studied Art History at Trinity College in Washington, D.C., earning her B.A. in 1976. Paula met her husband Mark the same year, and the two were married in 1978 at St. John’s Church in Newark, DE.

Paula fostered a life-long interest in the arts, crossword puzzles, and spoiling dogs and other people’s children. She was a devoted wife and mother who incorporated Irish Catholic virtues into everything she did and each interaction. A constant confidant and adviser to family and friends, she had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel important and loved. Her infectious love of museums, especially art museums, was spread to her children, nieces, nephews, and more than a few of their friends via constant weekend excursions to Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, New York, and Washington, D.C. Her generosity, time, and seamstress skills were always in demand for school plays, musical performances, and Halloween costumes. She was always quick with a treat for the neighborhood birds and dogs.

She is survived by her devoted husband of forty-five years, Mark; her children Michael of Arlington, VA and Kara of Norristown, PA; her brothers Jim, Edward, and Carl Danberg; her sister Kara Chase; and sixteen nieces and nephews. She will be profoundly missed by her friends and neighbors.

All are welcome to join in a celebration of Paula’s life at Catagnus Funeral Home, 1020 East Philadelphia Ave., Gilbertsville, PA 19525, from 7-9 pm on May 21, 2024. Paula will lie in repose from 10am to 11am at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, 256 Swamp Pike Schwenksville, PA. on May 22nd. A Catholic funeral mass will follow at 11am. She is to be buried at West Laurel Hill Cemetery in Bala Cynwyd, PA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fund for St. Mark’s, St. Mark’s Catholic High School, 2501 Pike Creek Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808; Tax ID 23-7384724 (https://www.stmarkshs.net/make-a-gift).

Paula will be remembered by her neighbors as a kind, dog loving, happy friend! All my dogs loved her over the years. We loved walking by her house. A special memory I would like to share is when she gave me a ceramic angel with a bell and a beautiful little story about faith and hope one Christmas
during a difficult time in my life that she knew nothing about. It was such a surprise gift to receive and meant so much to me. I hang it every Christmas!

You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
