It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of David James Faust of Gilbertsville. PA on May 16, 2024 at the age of 69 years old after a long, courageous battle with lung cancer.
Born in Gilbertsville on November 25, 1954, David was raised by his parents James and Loretta Faust along with his seven siblings. He attended Boyertown High School and Berks County Vo-Tech. After graduating in 1972, David managed the Spence Ford body shop until he opened his own auto collision business in 1979 in Boyertown and worked there every day until recently.
To know David was to love him. His kindness of heart and generosity of spirit were reflected in all that he did. He put the needs of others before his own and found great joy in life’s simplest pleasures. He loved spending weekends relaxing with his wife at the beach and racing Sportsman Modified cars.
David is predeceased by his father James (Jim) Faust, his mother Loretta Faust, and his sister Jeany (Barb) Ruminski. He is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Mary Kaye Rhude-Faust, and his siblings Karen Sottile, Cyndy Hammett and her husband Ric, Tina Faust, Angela Gresh and her husband John, Louise Faust, Bryan Faust and his wife Heather, his brothers-in-law Kevin E. Rhude and Carl A. Rhude and his wife Anita. Also, he is survived by his nieces and nephews whom he adored, including Melissa Rhude, Jesse Hopkins and her husband Gary, Kevin A. Rhude and his wife Kayla, Joy Curry, Jamie Bressler and her husband Dave, Dana Ruminski Lowe and her husband James, Kristin Law and her husband Ian, and Brent Ruminski and his wife Alysa, Tyler Hammett, Cole Hammett, Ciere Sallada, Nate Sallada, Mike Sottile and his wife Dijana Nedelcovych Sottile, Alex Sottile and his wife Samantha, Anna Phipps, and Lexi Phipps, as well as his great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition, David leaves behind many other cherished family members and dear life-long friends.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at Catagnus Funeral Home, 1020 E. Philadelphia Avenue, Gilbertsville, PA, on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 with visitation from 9:30 – 11:00 AM and the service at 11:00AM.
