Mitchell A. Mossman, 30

Mitchell Alexander Mossman, 30, husband of Meisha (Martin-Benton) Mossman, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, in Brady, TX.

Born in Brookhaven, he was the son of Bill and Sue (Finley) Mossman.

Mitchell was born on November 27, 1993, in Brookhaven (DelCo). The family moved shortly thereafter to Limerick (MontCo) where Mitchell attended Spring-Ford schools from kindergarten through middle school. He played football for the Methacton Wolverines during that time. The family moved again to North Coventry (ChesCo) where Mitchell completed high school, graduating with honors. Mitchell then attended the University of Pittsburgh for two years before joining the United States Air Force at age twenty-one.

Staff Sergeant Mitchell A. Mossman was a multifaceted Airmen assigned to the 480th Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance Group, Fort Eisenhower, Georgia. He joined the Air Force on January 6, 2015. He began his career as a Cryptologic Analyst assigned to Presidio of Monterey. Upon completion of training in June 2016, SSgt Mossman was assigned to the 31st Intelligence Squadron at Fort Eisenhower. As a Language Analyst, he utilized NSA exploitation tools and techniques to enable proper targeting of insurgent communications supporting overseas counter-terrorism operations.

Additionally, he supported computer network operations personnel to gain additional access to technical data and to expand operations against top-tier targets. He was later selected to serve on the 480th Group Staff as an Executive Assistant and Unit Deployment Manager, supporting the group commander, deputy commander, 1,200 Airmen and Guardians. Furthermore, SSgt. Mossman acted as the Senior Enlisted Leader’s lead executive assistant at the largest Geographically Separated Unit in the Air Force.

Mitchell was an avid outdoorsman and physical fitness enthusiast. When he wasn’t in the gym, he might be found hiking the deserts of Arizona with his sister, scaling waterfalls in Pennsylvania with his parents, or enjoying watersports on a lake in Georgia with his wife. No matter where he went, Mitchell could always be found with his loyal dog, Jack.

Surviving along with his wife Meisha, are his brother Damien Mossman, his sister Caitlin (Mossman) Erickson, wife of Forrest, and his grandfather Francis Finley. Mitchell is also survived by his many cousins, aunts and uncles (Finley – Irvine – Masterson – Mossman – Smith). Mitchell and Meisha were expecting their first child, Makayla Finley Mossman, in the spring of 2025.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 11:00AM at Catagnus Funeral Home (329 N. Lewis Rd., Royersford, PA 19468). Burial will be held privately by the family at a later date. A visitation will also be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 9:00AM-11:00AM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to “To Love A Canine Rescue, Inc.” (https://donorbox.org/in-memory-of-mitchell-mossman) in Mitchell’s name.

Add My Condolences

Mossman was one of the funniest and friendliest people I've ever met: we worked together for years and were in boot camp at the same time, and he made those times all the better for it. He will be sorely missed. To all his family and friends, I am so sorry for your loss.

Mitch was a man that was worth something and meant many things to some pretty significant people who are really good at understanding true meaning behind whatever is in front of them through analysis and interpretation. Leading with his heart he didn't say much he lead with passion and desire. He often didn't have to talk because with Mitch you could feel his intent, love, care, and divine grace for those less fortunate. He was a unicorn, a true diamond in the ruff, and I will miss him tremendously. One day he hugged me after he informed me about becoming a father with tears in his eyes and I will never forget the embrace that man delivered, his spirit was so full and happy and his touch was something of pure inspiration. He had a way of inspiring through many ways and was unique in a lot of ways. But one thing is for certain he loved each one of his family with everything he had and was so happy about being a dad and leading the next generation with an amazing partner his words not mine. I am so sorry he is gone - Aubrey

To the Mossman family, words can't describe what you're going through and I'm so sorry for the loss of a truly excellent and exceptional man. Mitch was a friend, team and classmate at OJR class of 2012 I can still remember his first INT playing Upper Perk back in 9th grade. Mitch was always so warm, kind, absolutely funny and unbelievably smart and humble. Always had a smile on his face and excuded a calmness about him that could put anyone at easy. I'm sure I speak for all of his high school buddies he will be miss and things won't be the same without him. You were and always will be a hero and a friend. Thank you for your service to this country, your community and being a friend. Rest in power brother.

Mitch was probably the kindest, most loyal man I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. Regardless of the situation, he always had this natural charismatic coolness that would ease tension and make everyone crack a smile. Although the world is worse off having lost him, I strongly believe that the positive impact he had on every life he touched far outweighs that. My condolences to all who mourn him; may his memory live on in all of us.

Mitch was my roommate for a year in Augusta, and we spent a lot of time together. He was the most charismatic man I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He understood human behavior in such a deep way and used that ability to show kindness to those around him. I have many fond memories with Mitch and will cling to those for the rest of my life. My deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the countless others by whom his presence will be missed.
