Scott "Scotty" P. Mathias, 68

Loving husband and father of 2 daughters, Scott "Scotty" P. Mathias, 68 years old, passed away peacefully at his home the morning of Tuesday, October 8th, 2024. He was born in Philadelphia, and at a young age of 14 years old, he found he had a passion for firefighting. He served with several companies over the years working his way up the ladder and retiring his fire career as Chief of Green Lane Fire Company and Fire Marshall of Marlborough Township.

He had worked at Suburban General/Community Hospital in Norristown for over 40 years through a multitude of positions including an Anesthesia Tech & a Radiology Tech. Later finding he just wanted to tinker with stuff, he enjoyed joining the Facilities Maintenance Crew where he completed his working career knowing the hospital inside and out. He was able to retire and enjoy his time at home, his family, and being a grandfather!

Scotty was an avid lover of camping, where he could be adventurous with boating, kayaking, and always making new friends along the way. He loved his suspenders, fishing, Nascar racing, and riding motorcycles with the GWRRA club. He was always quick with a joke to make you smile, and many knew his laugh well. He was the best cook we could ever ask for, making the best chocolate chip cookies and Italian wedding soup too! He also enjoyed spending time in his workshop/garage woodworking, tinkering with something, and of course fixing something with duct tape.

One special memory we all will forever cherish and knew Scotty well for, was his passion for Christmas and his love for portraying Father Christmas with his wife Linda by his side. They created wonderful moments for so many children over many years. We Love You Santa!

He is survived by his wife Linda of 46 years, daughters Kellyann, Theresa "Teri", son-in-law David & granddaughter Emma, sisters Debra "Debbie" & Therese "Terri" & her husband Sam, nieces Melissa Schaffer & Kristin Mathias, nephew Willam "Bill" Mathias Jr. as well as several other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by parents John & Marie (DeHaven) Mathias, brothers John Jr. & William "Bill" Mathias and sister Marie "Re" Bamberg.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at the Green Lane Fire House Banquet Hall from 12:00pm to 4:00pm.
