Myrtle C. “Dolly” Gift, 91

Myrtle C. “Dolly” Gift, 91, wife of the late Harold I. Gift, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Lifequest Nursing Center in Quakertown.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Cora (Guistwhite) Banks.

Dolly was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was gifted artistically and enjoyed sketching and painting. Most of her artwork was created post stroke, using her non- dominant hand, which made her art that much more impressive. Dolly also enjoyed hosting all of the family holiday gatherings, baking special treats for everyone. Pennsylvania Dutch Pot Pie was her specialty. She especially enjoyed Easter Egg hunts with her grandchildren. Dolly also enjoyed gardening.

Surviving is her daughter Cynthia M. Schaeffer, wife of Brian; son Scott H. Gift, husband of Kim; son Gregg E. Gift, husband of Susan; half siblings Patricia Conklin, of Virginia, Karen Atwood, of North Carolina, Bonita Stapleton, of Georgia, Collette Banks, of Florida, Gary Banks, of Florida, and Stewart Banks, of Florida; grandchildren Eric Gift, husband of Kelsey, Sierra Petro, and KJ Petro, husband of Kiara; great-grandchildren Jacob Gift and Addison Gift, and Giuliana Watson, Kane Petro and Kruz Petro.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Catagnus Funeral Home (711 N. Franklin St., Pottstown, PA 19464) with Pastor Lauren Cain officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park. A visitation will also be held on Monday, December 23, 2024, from 10:00AM-11:00AM at the funeral home. Christmas was Dolly’s favorite holiday; please wear something festive to capture her spirit.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Visiting Nurse Association of Pottstown & Vicinity or to a charity of your choice in Myrtle’s name.

Add My Condolences

Our family is so sorry for your loss. I will always remember Dolly's smile, her positive personality, and her love of the scent of rose. To this day when I smell rose scent I think fondly of her. Our hearts go out to your family.
