George L. Murphy, 100

George L. Murphy, husband of the late Marie (McBride) Murphy and husband of the late Rose (Vogt) Murphy, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at St. Mary’s Manor in Lansdale.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Francis Murphy and Teresa (Figlesthaler) Murphy.

George was a proud World War II Veteran, serving in the United States Army Air Corp. After his time in the service, he worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad for many years. George was a hard worker and great provider for his family. He worked two jobs throughout his career, working at Sears Department Store in addition to the Railroad. George was a very active member of St. Columbkill Church. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan. George enjoyed gardening and had lovely rose bushes in his yard. He passed his green thumb and love for gardening down to his children. He liked birds and could always be found happily whistling around the house. Family was most important to George; he loved and adored his children and grandchildren.

Surviving is his daughter Kathleen Murphy, daughter Marianne Semchuk, wife of Nicholas, and son Michael Murphy, husband of Cheryl; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his daughter Marie Therese Winco and 2 sisters and 1 brother.

A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 11:00AM at St. Mary’s Chapel (701 Lansdale Ave, Lansdale, PA 19446). Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Bensalem. A visitation will also be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 10:00-10:45AM at the Chapel.
