Mel Cusick, Sr., 83

Mel Cusick, Sr., husband of Phyllis Cusick, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at his residence.

Born in Baltimore, MD., he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Cucina) Cusick.

Mel loved to fish and crab on his boat whenever possible. Mel proudly served in the United States Army and was very involved in the American Legion. He was a good man who would give the shirt off his back to anybody and loved his country to the fullest. But most of all, he loved his family, and being with his wife Phyllis, who he treated like a queen.

Surviving in addition to his wife Phyllis, are his daughters Jennie Lynn Sheridan, wife of Jerry, and Liz Corinne Benek. His son Mel Cusick, Jr., husband of Tara. Grandchildren Jason Sheridan, husband of Melissa; Patrick Sheridan, husband of Kristin; Christopher Sheridan, husband of Ashley; Brian Sheridan; Zachary and Brianna Cusick; Christian; Jayda; Mason. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service with Military Honors will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, LLC (1020 East Philadelphia Avenue, Gilbertsville, PA 19525). A visitation will also be held at the funeral home on Friday, April 4, from 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mel’s memory to the American Legion Post 0471 located at 100 Walker Drive, Boyertown, PA 19512.
