Ruth Annabelle Burkert

Ruth “Annabelle” Burkert passed away peacefully on April 25th 2025, at Frederick Living Community. She lived a loving life for 97 years. She was married and pre-deceased by her devoted husband, Clarence “Bud” Burkert. Annabelle and Bud met shortly after World War II, and she married the love of her life in 1947. They created a lifetime of happiness together for 61 years. Bud pre-deceased her in 2008 at 86 years young.

Annabelle can be described as a quiet, kind, and sweet individual. She enjoyed spending time outdoors and had a great appreciation for the natural world. She had a passion for animals, especially her pet dogs and cats. She so enjoyed planting and tending her flower gardens. For many years, she was a member and volunteer at St. John’s Lutheran Church. She remained active for most of her years, and liked to remind us that “age is just a number.”

Annabelle is pre-deceased by her parents, Lillie and Edwin Garber, and her siblings, Dorothy, Ethel, Betty, Marian, Gerald, and Ralph. She is survived by her nieces, nephews, cousins, and their extended families. She was highly regarded by many people in the Boyertown area.

A special acknowledgement goes out to the outstanding staff at Frederick Living. They provided a safe and caring environment for Annabelle in her last years. A sincere thank you to Caring Hospice for the invaluable support and concern during the last phase of her life. They have our deepest gratitude.

On May 15th, family and friends are invited to Catagnus Funeral Home at 1020 East Philadelphia Avenue, Gilbertsville, PA 19525. A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00AM, and at 11:00AM, there will be a service to honor and celebrate Annabelle’s life.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Frederick Living or your local Humane Society.

Psalm 139

“If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there, your hand shall lead me.”
