Richard L. Koch, 88, husband of Mary Frances (Carr) Koch, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Pottstown Hospital with his family by his side. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Born in Bally, he was the son of the late LeRoy and Agnes (Kriebel) Koch.
Richard proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. After his time in the military, he spent his entire career in the textile weaving industry. He spent many years as a volunteer for Boyertown Multi-Service, delivering Meals on Wheels, transporting community members in need and also driving ambulance for Bally Community Ambulance. Richard enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, camping, RVing, and woodworking. He adored his family and loved spending time with them, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a lifetime member of Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Bally.
Surviving along with his beloved wife Mary Frances, of 66 years are his 3 children, Michael Koch, husband of Elaine of Flower Mound, TX, Christina Walters, wife of Phil of Barto, PA and Timothy Koch, husband of Gwen of Coatesville, PA; his 4 grandchildren Jennifer, Adrienne, Alexandra, and Joshua; and 7 great grandchildren Chase, Natalie, William, Maxi, Rhett, Reece, and Layla. Richard also leaves behind his sister Priscilla Melcher, wife of the late Allen, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Leonard Koch, sister Esther Bauer, and infant son John Koch.
A memorial mass will be held on Monday, May 12, 2025, at 11:00AM at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church (610 Pine St, Bally, PA 19503) with Fr. Richard James officiating. Burial will be held privately by the family at a later date. A visitation will also be held on Monday, May 12, 2025, from 9:30AM-11:00AM at the church.
