Sharon I. Yergey, 79

Sharon I. (Maute) Yergey, 79, of Pottstown, wife of the late Robert G. Yergey, Sr., passed away Sunday June 22, 2025 at Pottstown Nursing & Rehabilitation.

Born in Pottstown, she was the daughter of the late Harry J. Maute and Doris Mae (Bullock) Hahn.

Sharon was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother, and an active and beloved member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Pottstown. During her time, she was a member of Emmanuel's Congregational Council. She was a Lector, a Greeter, part of the Handbell Choir, a volunteer in Emmanuel's Closet, she served monthly as a building duster, helped out with Coffee Hour, served on the Worship and Music Committee, and met weekly with the Knitters and Stitchers.

Sharon was also a regular at the Tri County Active Adult Center, where she enjoyed crocheting and knitting, taking day trips, and being part of the community.

Surviving is her son Robert G. Yergey, Jr., husband of Jennifer; daughter Dawn E. Yergey; grandchildren Alexander S. and Gabriel J. Yergey; sister Judith Jackson and predeceased by half brother Walter Hahn, formally of Phoenixville.

A memorial service for Sharon will be held on July 8th at 11 am at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, located at 150 N. Hanover Street, Pottstown, Pa, 19464.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sharon’s memory to The Tri-County Active Adult Center, located at 288 Moser Road, Pottstown, Pa, 19464.

Sharon was an elected Committee Person and dedicated volunteer for the local Democratic committee. She was always available to help at the office, register voters, and inform voters at the polls on election day. She will be greatly missed. I am relieved she is out of pain and at peace.
