Sandra K. Wesner, 79

Sandra K. “Sandy” Wesner, beloved wife of R. Leland “Lee” Wesner, Jr. passed on to her heavenly reward on Saturday, July 12, 2025. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Nathan A. Wesner, (spouse Christina DiBernardo), and Aaron M Wesner, (spouse Myung Joh). Also surviving are four grandchildren – Audrey K. Wesner, Jonah M. Wesner, Luca DiBernardo, and Violet V. Wesner. She is also survived by her sister, Debra J. Kissinger.

Sandy was born on June 8, 1946 in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. Her parents were Kenward and Anna Kissinger. Sandy attended the Pottsville public schools, graduating from Pottsville Area High School in 1964. She went on from there to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, attending first, Juniata College, then Mansfield University, as well as a Master’s Degree at Penn State University. Sandy and Lee met while performing with Pottsville’s Third Brigade Band, a community musical organization. They married in 1968. Sandy taught Home Economics in the Pottstown, Pa school district for thirty years. Beyond her profession as a teacher, Sandy specialized in cooking, and in design and sewing in fabrics. All of this led to volunteering in community and church, where she worked with members, producing items of fabric, such as quilts, stuffed animals for children, and hats for cancer patients.

A memorial for Sandy will take place on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at the New Hanover Lutheran Church, Lutheran Road, Gilbertsville, Pa. Viewing will take place at 10:00 AM, with the service to begin at 11:00 AM. A reception with refreshments will follow in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the church would be much appreciated.

Sandy, was a very energetic partner with me in several church endeavors. She was a strong person with very good intentions. She encouraged others to succeed and was very supportive and very out spoken regarding projects she deemed necessary. She is a force we will all miss.

I am so sorry to hear of Sandy’s passing. Sandy and I were great friends in high school and we shared the love of music. We were the only 2 women to join Pottsville’s Third Brigade Band - she on flute and me on Bb clarinet. We actually were too young to join the Musicians’ Union, but they let us in anyway! Even though we lived far apart, we looked forward to our high school class reunions when we could reminisce. My condolences to you and your family. She will definitely be missed.

Sandy was an anchor in the Pottstown Middle School. Every year she gifted her fellow teachers with small handmade Christmas ornaments. She was a super fan of Pottstown basketball teams. In her retirement she kept us informed about fellow retirees. And this year I was happy to see her at the dedication of the Ken Davis court. Despite her illness she was determined to live every day to the fullest. Condolences to Lee and the rest of her family.
