Martha Oakwell Wood, MSN, RNC, CRNP (84)

Martha Oakwell (Warburton) Wood, 84, of Limerick, wife of Lawrence D. Wood, Sr., passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2025 surrounded by her family.

Born in Chester, she was the daughter of the late Albert Edward Warburton, Jr. and Gertrude Cecilia (Morgan) Warburton. Martha grew up as one of five children developing a deep appreciation for family and community from an early age.

A true matriarch, Martha dedicated her life to her family. She shared 68-years of marriage with her devoted husband, Larry, building a foundation of unwavering love and support. Her greatest joy came from spending time with family

Martha's creativity shone through her hobbies, including card making, ancestry research, and crafts. Martha, known for her spirited service, tirelessly served as Head Deaconess at North Chester Baptist Church, hosting numerous luncheons and caring for widows. She also loved throwing memorable family parties and will be remembered for her strength and the lasting legacy she leaves.

Martha dedicated her professional life to caring for others as a Women's Healthcare Nurse Practitioner, a role in which she provided compassionate and expert care.

She will be dearly missed by all.

Jane Ann (Warburton) Said

Her 30 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren

Her many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by:

Her brother, Albert E. Warburton III

Her sister-in-law, Martha Warburton

Her Niece, Heather Warburton

Her Nephew, Michael J. Warburton

And so many other dear ones whose memory we treasure within her family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at North Chester Baptist Church in Chester, PA on August 9th. Visiting hours are from 10-11. Celebration of Life service is at 11:00.

A true romantic and incurably nostalgic. I will always remember her amazing Christmas parties filled with the spirit of who Martha was--lover of a bountiful table, a beautiful setting, and the joy of hosting family and friends. Im sure your heavenly home is a perfectly restored version of 103 W Mowry St which you made into a place of treasured memories for so many. God bless you Mom Wood

Too many memories, we grew up next door in Chester. Her nursing skills came in handy with all the kids in the neighborhood. Prayers for comfort for the family.
