After a long and valiant battle with cancer, Michelle Elizabeth Velas passed due to complications from her disease on August 22, 2025. She was 69 years old.
Despite a decades-long battle with cancer, Michelle was a very active member in her community, having held many positions in schools, churches, and as a nanny to various families throughout all stages of her life. When not working, Michelle was often found spending time with her extended family and friends. Michelle had a contagious enthusiasm for living life and caring for those around her - often known to house, dog, babysit for her family and friends. She was a staple and shining light in every group she participated in. She was an avid Civil War Reenactor for the 69th PA Irish Volunteers and she absolutely loved to travel whenever she could.
Michelle is survived by her father Andrej and siblings Andrew (Sue) and Martin (Ronnie) Velas. She was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and cousin. Michelle was preceded in death by her mother, Sarah, and her sister, Sarah Ann.
A private Celebration of Life will be held for Michelle at a later date.
