November 5, 1930 – September 1, 2025
Margaret “Peg” Ashmann Stein Hoyer, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, at Pottstown Hospital. She was 94 years old.
Born on November 5, 1930, Peg grew up with a deep appreciation for family, nature, and adventure. She spent most of her life in Sassamansville, where she and her late husband, Everett Melbourn Hoyer, had a loving home on Hoffmansville Road and raised their five children: Linda Ruddick, Sharon Hoyer, Kenneth Hoyer, Shirley Wolf (Todd), and Steven Hoyer.
Known affectionately as “Grammy,” Peg was the proud grandmother of eight and great-grandmother of twelve, each of whom brought her immense joy and pride. She is also survived by her sister Cheryl St. George. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her family—she was a devoted gardener whose green thumb transformed her yard into a haven of blooms and beauty. She was also a passionate traveler, exploring the world with Everett by her side—from European cities to the wonders of China, and countless road trips and cruises in between. Together, they shared a lifetime of adventure and companionship until Everett’s passing in 2016.
Peg was a woman of quiet strength and vibrant spirit. In her younger years, she earned her green belt in Tae Kwon Do, a testament to her determination and zest for life. She was a proud and active member of her flotilla in the Coast Guard Auxiliary. She was also deeply committed to her faith, volunteering in many activities at the First Church of the Brethren in Pottstown, Pa, where she was a longtime member.
Peg’s legacy is one of warmth, resilience, and generosity. Her home was always open, her heart always full, and her stories always rich with laughter and love. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
