Patrick J. Kelly, 95

Patrick Joseph Kelly, 95, husband of Twila Noreen (White) Kelly, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025. Patrick (Joe) was born on July 16, 1930, in Sand Patch, PA, to Robert and Irene (Hoppel) Kelly, and was raised in Meyersdale, Somerset County, PA.

Patrick was a proud veteran of the Korean War. After his service, he received a B.S. in Business Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He later earned a Master’s Degree in Secondary Guidance and Counseling from Pennsylvania State University and a Secondary School Principal’s Certification from Lehigh University.

Professionally, Patrick began his career as a business education teacher in New Jersey before moving into guidance and counseling roles in the Bald Eagle-Nittany and Spring-Ford Area School Districts. In 1995, he retired as a Secondary School Administrator from the Boyertown Area School District.

Although travel, hunting, and golfing were among his favorite activities, his family was always most important to him. His greatest joy was cheering on his children and grandchildren at their many activities & sporting events—he was their most devoted fan.

Patrick is survived by his wife of 60 years, Twila (White) Kelly; his daughter Yvonne, wife of Brad Kirby; his son Patrick Jr., husband of Courtney (Hoover) Kelly; and his grandchildren Jenna and Aaron Kirby, and Dylan and Lucas Kelly. He is also survived by his sister, Edna Grzegorski, and brother William. He was preceded in death by his brothers Richard, Robert, and Donald; and sisters Jean and Mary.

A Funeral Service and Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at 11:00AM at Catagnus Funeral Home (329 N. Lewis Road, Royersford, PA 19468) with Deacon Jim Nash officiating. I was reading the Mercury this morning and saw that Mr. Kelly passed. I was a student at Boyertown High School who graduated in 1978. I have not seen Mr Kelly since then but have wonderful memories of him there. He always had a smile on his face happy to say hello. He was a very kind man to his students. As stated he had a great life and am sorry your loss. May God bring your family comfort at this time.
