Barbara Ann Scully, 88

Barbara Ann Scully nee Kocsak, born on January 22, 1937 passed away peacefully and was called home to Heaven in Pottstown PA on October 15, 2025 where she had resided for the past 2 and ½ years.

Born in Trenton NJ, she graduated in 1955 from Hamilton High School West where she was a majorette and spoke fondly of sorority sisters, most of whom she continued friendships with throughout her lifetime including weekly Pinochle nights. She had a passion for fashion and enjoyed modeling in local hair shows and pageants. She married her high school sweet heart, William J. Scully straight out of high school and her children were soon to follow. She loved spending time at the Jersey Shore mostly in Wildwood where her Aunt Betty (Elizabeth Kocsak Kalapos and Uncle Chalie (Charles Kalapos) rented a beach house, The Green House, every summer for many, many years. There were also many trips to the Pocono Mountains, she loved it in the winter riding horseback in the snow. She had a love for horses and all animals, we were never without a dog or two!

She was very excited when she started her very first job at Adam and Eve Spa in Lawrenceville and from there she went on to complete training at the Volkswagen School of America and worked for many years as a car sales person at Princeton Volkswagen and Peugeot. Later in life she worked part time at Olde York Country Club and Town and Country Diner.

She had an adventurous spirit and would not hesitate to get in the car and go! She would often bring her Grandchildren, who lovingly called her Nanny, with her on her journeys finding joy in wherever the road took them. She loved to sing and dance and would make up games for them to play. She loved everything to do with nature always giving special names to the birds, like Gertrude and Eclif, and Peechooch. She was so special that the Albatross felt safe nesting under her balcony every year during their migration.

She loved going to parks, lakes and streams, being near the water but especially the Ocean which led her to Kauai Hawaii in 2002 to be with her youngest Grandchildren at the time. She enjoyed whale watching and seeing the Cruise Ships go by out of her window. She spent close to the next 20 years there until she moved to Pennsylvania in 2021 again to be close to her family.

She was a dreamer and she taught everyone to dream, and dream big! There might be a cabin in the mountains, a book to write or a sailboat named the Tajaleena, we could see them in our minds even though they never came to fruition for her. There was also the Mamooch so you better be good! She was very creative and had quite the imagination, her memoirs would have been fantastic! Everyone who knew her knew she was a true original and she had no trouble doing or saying as she pleased. She carried a lot of grace and wisdom which she would share with anyone who was smart enough to listen to her. She was also very strong and resilient, raising her 4 children as a single mother. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her 4 Loving children, J. William Scully and his Wife Sharon, Coleen Scully Storaci, Tami Scully Savino and Jami Scully Sitzler and her husband Edward Sitzler. She had 8 grandchildren who adored her, Gina Snow, Samantha Brettell, Michael Storaci, Richard Storaci, Christopher Scully, Randy Scully, Cydney Sitzler and Shannon Sitzler. She also has many great grandchildren as well as several cousins and a nephew.

She is pre-deceased by her father Louis J. Kocsak and his wife Anna Kocsak and her mother Irene Godra Koscak who died shortly after giving birth to her.

A celebration of life in her honor will be private for immediate family according to her wishes.

In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in her name to The Surfrider Foundation – Kauai, helping keep Oceans clean. For more information on the foundation including how to donate please visit Kauai.Surfrider.Org.
