Susan Ann Maicke (née Baudot) passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and quiet strength that will live on in all who knew her. Born on September 27, 1948 to Harry and Mary Boyer, Susan grew up in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, graduated from Pottstown High School in 1966 and became a registered nurse some years later.
A devoted caregiver by nature and by calling, Susan built a lifelong career as a registered nurse, serving patients with empathy and grace in both Pennsylvania and Illinois. Her kindness, humor, and steady presence brought comfort to countless lives—both in her professional work and among her family and friends.
Susan was first married to the late Alvin Francis “Pete” Baudot, with whom she shared her beloved daughter, Jessica Baudot Reigner (partner, Tom Reedinger). Years later, she met the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Maicke, in a Widows and Widowers AOL chat room. Their unexpected connection blossomed into a beautiful 25-year marriage filled with laughter, faith, travel, and unwavering devotion.
She is survived by her husband, Bob; her daughter, Jessica; and her cherished grandchildren—Avery (19, TCU student in Fort Worth, TX), Quinn (17), Gavin (17), and Trinity (8), all of Collegeville, PA.
Susan is also survived by her adored sister, Joyce (Tom) of Collegeville; and her beloved nieces and nephew—Heather (Matt) of Lancaster, PA; Ryan (Julia) of Phoenixville, PA; and Bethany (Aaron) of Gilbertsville, PA—who were not only family but also her treasured Godchildren. Together, they blessed her with nine great-nieces and nephews.
She is lovingly remembered as the best mom in the world—only surpassed by her role as the best grandmother. Susan gave the most thoughtful advice, wrote heartfelt handwritten letters, and cared more deeply than words can express. She really appreciated the app Life360 and knew everyone’s whereabouts at all times. Her love was steady, her laughter contagious, and her absence will be achingly, painfully, deeply felt by all who were lucky enough to be loved by her.
In addition, Susan is fondly remembered by her stepsons Brian (Tiffany) of Harrisburg, PA; Mark (Amanda) of Minneapolis, MN; and Matthew of Madison, WI.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites loved ones to honor Susan’s memory by extending a kindness, writing a letter, or caring for someone who needs it—just as she always did.
Friends and family are invited to visit Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Ltd., 329 N. Lewis Rd., Royersford, PA 19468 from 9:00-11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 with a memorial service beginning at 11 AM.
