Richard P. “Richie Mack” Mackiewicz, 81, formerly of South Philadelphia, beloved husband of Linda C. (Horner) Mackiewicz, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at his home, surrounded by loved ones.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Richard was the son of the late Alexander and Anna (Zuzulock) Mackiewicz. He was a proud member of Steamfitters Local 420, where he worked as a skilled pipefitter for more than 30 years.
Richie was known for his sharp wit, generosity, love of animals, and easygoing nature. A talented Pinochle player, daily Pick-3 chooser, and wonderful cook, he brought joy and laughter to every gathering. He enjoyed classic films and could quote old movies with ease, often quizzing those around him during the film. He was an avid follower of the stock market and a devoted Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan. Above all, Richie was an adoring family man who cherished time spent with his loved ones—especially family vacations to Disney World, his happy place (ShopRite a close second).
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda; daughters, Anastasia Morris (wife of Christopher) and Dr. Alexis Mackiewicz; grandchildren, Megan and Ryan Morris; his brother, Alexander Mackiewicz (husband of Mary Ellen); and his faithful companion, Bentley, along with two beloved “grand chihuahuas,” Minion and Pipsqueak.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Assumption of the Holy Virgin Orthodox Church, 2101 S. 28th St., Philadelphia, PA 19145. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery West, Bala Cynwyd. Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the church prior to the service.
Richie will be remembered for his humor, kindness, and unwavering love for his family and friends. His warmth and generosity touched everyone who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those he loved.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Upper Schuylkill Valley Park, 1615 Black Rock Road, Royersford, PA 19468
