Barbara J. Brightbill, 94

Barbara Janet (Stoudt) Brightbill, 94, of Schwenksville, Pa, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at home of natural causes and surrounded by loved ones.

Barbara was born on January 9, 1931 in Pennwyn, PA to the late Adam and Cora (Hettinger) Stoudt. Barbara graduated from Shillington High School in 1950 and then went on to work at Kelray’s where she met her husband, Russell Brightbill. As they began a family together, Barbara spent many years working as a homemaker before going back to work as a cafeteria manager at Western Center for Technical Studies until she retired in 1993.

Barbara was preceded in death by her siblings Violet, Fern, Norman, Pauline, Eugene, Lucille, and Grant and is survived by her husband of 71 years, Russell, their 4 children: Donna (Michael) Serina, Darlene (Pasquale) Milantoni, Karen (David) Tamburino, and Kevin Brightbill, 4 grandchildren: Alison (Kenneth) DiOrio, Matthew (Christine) Milantoni, Michael Serina, and Kristen Serina, and 7 great-grandchildren: Keira, Hannah, Nicholas, Isabelle, Vincenzo, Myla, and Mallory. Additionally, she is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Barbara was very active in her church, serving as a 1st and 2nd grade Sunday School teacher for over 40 years, getting greeters for over 20 years, leading the Reppert’s Candy Fundraiser for many years, and serving on the Altar Guild, Hospitality Committee, and Women’s Fellowship.

Barbara was an animal lover and welcomed many cats, dogs, and even birds to their home over the years. She also had a love of plants. Barbara was able to restore life to many plants with her green thumb. Barbara was also an excellent cook and baker, and feeding her family and friends brought her much joy. Barbara enjoyed summer trips to Wildwood in her younger years and taking her grandchildren to Knoebel’s. Her favorite ride was the carousel, or “uppy downy” as she would call it. In more recent years, she enjoyed many trips to the Hotel Hershey Spa.

A Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 11:00AM at St. James UCC (321 S Limerick Rd, Royersford, PA 19468) with Rev. Beth Eustis officiating. Burial will follow at Limerick Garden of Memories. A viewing will also be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 9:45-10:45AM at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. James UCC Memorial Fund in Barbara’s name.

Add My Condolences

Remembering all the memories , the love and the joy that we all shared. Such a gentle and Sweet Soul who embodied love and caring. My heart. My Hope Is that we all remember the promises of Our Lord.. that she is in his kingdom, and we shall be reunited. Hope that through the unspeakable, we think on what dear aunt Barbara must be experiencing, the release of infirmities and the awe of being in a place that the Lord has made for us

Growing up throughout the years, our families were always very close. My mom and Aunt Barbara both loved to cook, so they enjoyed sharing recipes, the most famous of which was her Oatmeal Cake. We still make it several times a year, and this recipe has been passed on to the younger generations to enjoy. I will sorely miss seeing her at our monthly "Brightbill Breakfasts". "REST IN PEACE", Aunt Barbara!
