Verna Walters, 96, of Douglassville, Pennsylvania, passed away December 6, 2025. Born December 15, 1928, in Cedarville, Pennsylvania, Verna was known for her faith, strength and love for her family.
Verna was the last of her era. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Walters, married 68 years, her brother John Ruoss and sister Vonda Weney. Also preceded in death by their daughter Kay Takach of Pottstown.
Verna is survived by daughter Sue LaPlant (Joe) of Fountain Hill, Pennsylvania; son Mark Walters of Oxford, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren: Greg LaPlant (Racheal) of Rickman, Tennessee, Kelly LaPlant of Chandler, Arizona, Josh Walters (Lori) of Annville, Pennsylvania, Heather Walters of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, and Eric Croom (Betsy) of Kansas City, Missouri; two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Verna loved sports, often attending high school football and basketball games and wrestling matches. She was a competitive bowler for over thirty plus years. She even bowled earlier this year, beating everyone in her neighborhood at the assisted living home where she resided.
Visitation for friends and family will be held 10-11 a.m. Monday, December 15, 2025, at Catagnus Funeral Home, 711 N Franklin St., Pottstown, Pennsylvania 19464, with funeral services beginning at 11 a.m.
