Dennis M. “Denny” McGeady, 78

Dennis M. “Denny” McGeady, 78, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at Pottstown Hospital.

Born in Philadelphia, Dennis was the son of the late John and Rosemary (Brown) McGeady.

To those who knew him best, he was simply Pop — a warm, personable presence whose humor, stories, and genuine love for people left a lasting impression wherever life took him.

Dennis proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He entered service as a E1 and was honorably discharged as a E5. For his bravery and sacrifice, he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star, honors he carried with quiet pride. He later became a lifetime member of the Trappe VFW.

The oldest of five brothers, Denny took great pride in his family and in his education at St. Francis Proprietary School for Boys in Spring Grove, PA, where lifelong friendships were formed, and bonds were cemented that meant the world to him.

A truly social soul, Dennis never met a stranger. He loved being out in the community, often being the last one to leave, always ready for one more conversation. He treated everyone he met like a friend — and many became just that.

A die-hard Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan, Denny embodied the classic Philly spirit: passionately loyal, forever hopeful, and always prepared to declare the season over — only to be right back cheering the next game.

More than anything else, Dennis was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He shared 53 loving years with the love of his life, Mary, whom he affectionately called his Kel. His greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren, who will forever cherish their memories with Pop.

Surviving along with his beloved wife, Mary of 53 years, is his son Shane McGeady, husband of Julie; daughter Kerry Scott, wife of Ian; brothers Thomas McGeady, Jack McGeady, husband of Chris, and Joseph McGeady, husband of Leslie; brother-in-law Carl, husband of the late Michael; grandchildren Kamden, Gabriel, Charlotte, Lily, Logan, and Aubrey; along with a large extended family and many dear friends.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Ltd., 329 N. Lewis Rd., Royersford, PA 19468. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project in Dennis’ name. www.woundedwarrior.org

Add My Condolences

My deepest condolences to the McGeady family. I remember them so well from my days as a child living in Abington, PA. Later as adults Denny and I re-discovered each other on social media and communicated regularly. Our chats were always interesting, insightful and funny. He was a good and decent man and I feel honored to have known him. Heaven is keeping a light on for you Denny. A Guinness in your honor is the order of the day.

The oldest (and wisest?) of the “G Brothers,” Denny, was not known to me in his earlier years as I grew up with Jack some 5 years younger than Denny. However, I came to know Denny when attending the famous “G Family” Christmas parties when Mummum was still alive and the family celebrated with laughter, songs, (summertime) and a few “chills.” I will never forget his warm smile, his subtle humor and enduring kindness. His loss hits hard. RIP, Denny, you are greatly missed.

My heart is saddened to hear of Dennys passing. I attended St. Frances Prep with Dennis and we were roommates. Living with someone you get to know them real quick and Dennis and I became great buddies since we shared the same mischievous personality. Thanks to one other fellow prepster who organized a get together over the years I got to see Dennis and relive the unforgettable memories of attending the prep together. My thoughts and prayers go out to his entire family. Sincerely, Frank

Truly Everyone’s Friend. The first time you met him he was the friend you’ve always had, but didn’t know it. When Denny was near you knew it was going to be a good day. His laugh was infectious, his smile was always beaming. He will be missed, but we all will find ourselves thinking of him often with a warm feeling in our hearts and a smile on our face. Much Love & Condolences to Kel, Shane, Kerry Rose and their families. 💚

This past week we lost a Family stalwart. When our daughter Julie married Shane, I met his Dad. Denny McGinley met Denny McGeady. I knew he had to be a "really good guy" when I discovered both our birthdays were in September.

It was a delight and honor to have known Denny. He brought love and laughter to our Family. He was all any man could hope to be: a dedicated Husband, Dad, Grandad, and Patriot 🇺🇸🍀
