Francis Joseph Schwoyer, 88

Francis Joseph Schwoyer, 88, of Limerick, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen C. (Barlas) Schwoyer.

Born in Pottstown, Francis was the son of the late Joseph Francis and Pauline (Andzejewicz) Schwoyer. He attended St. Aloysius School from kindergarten through eighth grade and graduated from Pottstown High School. In 1975, he earned his degree from LaSalle University.

From 1956 to 1960, Francis proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, achieving the rank of Airman 2nd Class. He later enjoyed a long career as an engineer with Unisys before retiring.

Francis was a devoted member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Pottstown until its closure, after which he joined St. Gabriel’s in Stowe. He had a wide range of interests, including reading, game shows, movies, cooking, gardening, and photography. He also loved the performing arts, Broadway musicals, and attending Reading Royals hockey games. Above all, Francis cherished time spent with his family and friends.

He is survived by his children: Lisa Cherpanich, wife of George; Theresa LaPlante; Maria Ha, wife of Thomas; John Schwoyer; and Rebecca Irwin, wife of Jason; along with 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Ltd., 329 N. Lewis Rd., Royersford, PA 19468. Burial will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Stowe. A visitation will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 to 10:45 AM.

Francis and his family were well-loved members of my late husband's family--which is my family, too. I will always appreciate his kindnesses to my husband when he became ill. Hug Helen for us, now.
