Robert L. Strunk, 76

Robert L. Strunk, 76, of Boyertown, passed away Saturday February 7, 2026 at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest with his family at his side. He was the son of the late Leroy and Gwendolyn Strunk.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 52 years, Patricia (Breslin) Strunk; his daughter Emily Labowski wife of Stephen; brother-in-law Michael Breslin husband of Kathy; several nieces and nephews and several cousins.

Bob grew up in Boyertown and graduated from Boyertown High School in 1967. During his childhood, he played baseball. His passion for the sport continued throughout high school and as a member of Boyertown Legion Baseball.

He served in the Army from 1969-1971. After his tour of duty, Bob continued to participate in softball and senior baseball leagues. He was enthusiastic about the sport and was a dedicated Phillies fan. He was also an Eagles fan.

Bob’s greatest passion was his hot rods. Throughout his adult life, he enjoyed working on cars and attending car shows. His garage housed his favorite vehicles, including a 1937 Chevy Coupe, 1955 Chevy Bel Air, and a 1939 Oldsmobile. Bob loved driving and showcasing his cars. He often attended car shows once or twice a week.

Bob worked at Boyertown Casket Company until it closed. He then worked as a body technician at Sugg Chevrolet. For over 20 years, he was employed at Suburban Water Technologies, retiring in December 2024.

Funeral services will be held Thursday February 12, 2026 at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 45 N. Reading Ave., Boyertown, PA 19512. Visitation will be held Thursday from 9:30-10:45 AM at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert’s memory to the ALS United Midatlantic organization at Alsmidatlantic.org

Add My Condolences

We are deeply grateful for all the kind and heartfelt condolences extended to our family during this difficult time following Bob’s passing. Your words of comfort and support have meant so much to us.
Bob was a wonderful husband and a devoted father and father-in-law. He was also an exceptional son-in-law to my parents, and a true brother-in-law to both my brother and my late sister. Bob was more than just a family member, he was a great friend to so many people, always willing to lend a hand or offer support. His dedication and hard work were evident to all who knew him.
Bob took great pride in his work at Suburban Water. He loved his job and would have continued working if not for his devastating illness. His commitment to his career and his colleagues was truly admirable.
Thank you, everyone, for your compassion and for remembering Bob with such kindness.
With gratitude,
Pat Strunk

Dear Pat,
Yog and I are so sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. I personally did not know Bob, but I’ve know you for about 70 years, and every time we’d see you at a car show or restaurant, he always smiled and talked like we were long lost best friends. YOG always enjoyed chatting with him re: hot rods, etc. We will miss those times😢
My God Bless you, Emily and all those that loved Bob like you do!
Rest in Peace, Bob! Thank you for being so kind and always smiling!
Loving thoughts always,
Yog and Susy Yerger

Our Eulogy to Bob,
There is so much to say about Bob. He was everything to so many — a devoted son to Leroy and Gwendolyn, a loving husband to Pat, a proud father to Emily, a cherished son‑in‑law to Richard and Ruth, a brother‑in‑law, an uncle, and a loyal friend to countless people.
Born and raised in Boyertown, Bob spent his entire life embracing the community he loved. He served his country in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971. When he returned home, he met the love of his life, Patricia, and they married in June of 1973. They were blessed with their daughter Emily in 1978. Boyertown remained their home — the place where they built their life together, right on the same property where Bob grew up.
Bob’s life was cut short by the devastating disease ALS. No one was prepared — not Bob, who had always been so healthy and full of life, and not the family and friends who loved him. Even as the illness progressed, Bob’s selflessness, determination, and positivity never wavered. He was always working on his cars or helping friends with theirs, and even in the hardest moments he would say, “We’ll figure it out.”
As the disease advanced, Bob improvised, invented, and adapted — always looking for ways to make things easier for himself and for Pat. His faith, his love for his family, and his refusal to complain carried him through. His devotion to Pat was unwavering, and his care for his family never stopped.
Bob was always ready to help. He was a tremendous support to our parents over the years. After our father passed, Bob made sure our mother got to every appointment and every senior center event. He became her personal car body repairman — fixing dents and paint scrapes from that tricky garage entrance, always with a smile and never a complaint.
Emily, you were your dad’s pride and joy — beautiful, accomplished, and deeply loved. When you and Steve announced your engagement, he was overjoyed. And Steve, Bob left this world with complete confidence that the two of you would take care of each other, and that you would never disappoint him.
After God and family, Bob’s passion was restoring and painting cars. Car shows were his happy place — something he and Pat shared with friends for decades. He built lifelong friendships, especially with Dave and Pat, Donny and Janet, and so many others. Dave, your friendship meant the world to him. As Bob became more limited, you made sure he still got to those car shows. That gift — that loyalty — meant more to Pat and the family than words can express.
Bob was taken from us far too soon, but his life was defined by love, generosity, and quiet strength. And yes — by cars. Knowing he is now free from suffering brings us comfort, even as we miss him deeply. We like to imagine that heaven has a garage waiting for him, filled with cars ready for his expert touch.
Bob, we love you. We will miss you. And we will carry your spirit with us always.

Pat, I am so sorry to learn of Bob's passing. You all have been in my thoughts & prayers these past months. Me & my kids always enjoyed going to the car shows with Dave & my Mom (Dave & Pat Poley) and I always appreciated how welcoming you both were to all of us when we were visiting Mom & Dave in PA. My kids are in their late 30's now, but, they remember the UDDER GANG & all the fun car shows & Sunday morning breakfasts. I was always so impressed with all you guys did for the Community and it had a big influence on me getting involved & volunteering in my community in Virginia. I loved talking Philly sports with Bob & will fondly remember the night Mom & I stayed at your house & drank wine & watched football with you guys, SUCH A FUN NIGHT!! I will be keeping you, Emily & the rest of the family in my thoughts and prayers as you navigate the future. XOXO Sandy

Bob and I were friends and classmates from elementary school through high school. We worked together at the Boyertown Casket Company. We were members of the Lil' LeRoys, Inc. I was glad I got to spend time with him at the picnic in September. Bob was an all around great guy. He will be missed, but always remembered.
