Michael J. Mercuri, 66, of Wayne, Pennsylvania, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 13, 2025. Born on September 25, 1959, Michael was a proud graduate of Radnor High School and spent his life rooted in the community he loved. A member of the Republican Party, he was a man of strong values and conviction.
He is survived by his three children, five grandchildren, his siblings Dominic, Peter (Cynthia) deceased, and Annie Detwiler (Brian), along with many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Peter Mercuri and Felicia Mercuri, his sister Pasqualena Mercuri Pires, whose husband Edmund also held a special place in his life.
Michael had a gift for building things — from building model airplanes and Pine wood derby cars from Scratch to full Scale kitchen and bathroom remodels, he worked with his hands with pride and skill. He was an avid Harley-Davidson rider who felt at home on the open road, and a passionate aviator who loved the freedom of the skies just as much. On quieter days you might find him on the golf course or under the hood of a car he was bringing back to life.
Music ran through everything he did, and Bruce Springsteen held a special place in his heart. Professionally, Michael built a distinguished career in the automotive finishing industry, serving as National Sales Manager for both DuPont Auto Finishes and Carson’s Auto Paints.
To his friends, Mike was the person you called when you needed help — no matter the reason. He would give his time, his counsel, and his wisdom on any subject without hesitation. That generosity of spirit was one of the things people loved most about him.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
