Doris A. Yergey, 84

Doris Ann (Tatman) Yergey, 84, wife of the late William Edward Yergey, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Pennsburg Manor.

Born in Reading, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clifton W. Tatman and Grace Florence (Sterling) Tatman.

Doris loved to crochet and needle point. She enjoyed making needle point pillow cases for family and friends and nurses at the nursing home. Doris liked music. She played the accordion and was a huge Elvis fan. She enjoyed bowling with friends in her younger years. The Hallmark Channel was her favorite. Above all else, Doris loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. She was a Phillies fan and also enjoyed supporting and cheering on her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events.

Surviving are her children Cheryl Kalejta, wife of Paul; Edward Yergey, husband of Tracey; and Amanda Nelson, wife of Charles; sister Virginia Galie; grandchildren Jonathan Kalejta, husband of Abby, Stephanie Serafin, wife of David, Tate Yergey, Lane Yergey, Alyssa Leaman, wife of Robert, Caleb Nelson, and Zachary Nelson; great grandchildren Eloise, Isabelle, Benjamin, Darren, Elijah, Josiah, Theodore, and Brayden. She is predeceased by her son Stephen Yergey; brother Calvin Tatman; and sister Barbara O’Neill.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 11:00AM at Catagnus Funeral Home (1020 E. Philadelphia Ave, Gilbertsville, PA 19525). Burial will be held privately by the family following the service. A viewing will also be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026 from 9:00AM-11:00AM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boyertown Area Multi-Service (200 Spring St, Boyertown, PA 19512) in Doris’ name.

Cousins Growing up we spent many summers together in Delaware We worked in the garden-played canasta-enjoyed each day with whatever came along. So thankful Doris stayed in touch thru the years.
