Achilles J. Inverso (May 13, 1950 - August 2, 2026)

Achilles “Ach” Joseph Inverso passed away Sunday, August 2, 2026, at his home at the age of 76. Born and raised in South Philadelphia to William and Margaret (Ferrara) Inverso, Ach spent nearly all his life in the Greater Philadelphia area, only recently moving to Maryland to be closer to his grandson. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy (McNeill), whom he shared nearly 40 years with. He is also survived by his daughter, Stephanie (Loeb) Roulett, her husband Will, and their son Patrick, his brothers-in-law, Don and Rich McNeill, their wives, Nancy and Christine, and his nephews Andrew and Ryan.

Achilles was an exceptional pharmacist. After graduating from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science, his career spanned more than 40 years. He served as the Director of Pharmacy at St. Joseph's Hospital, owner and operator of his own pharmacy, pharmacy manager for Health Care Services (a mail order pharmacy), Director of Pharmacy at Pottstown Hospital, Pharmacy Director for the Montgomery County Geriatric Center, and Director of Pharmacy at Camilla Hall, a nursing home for the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Ach remembered his time at Camilla Hall fondly because he got to reconnect with several of the Sisters who taught him in grade school.

Outside of work, Ach enjoyed reading, the shooting range, and traveling. He and Kathy made it a point to see as much of the country as possible. In addition to a coast-to-coast trip to celebrate their retirement in 2014, they explored everywhere from New England to New Orleans, and from Devil’s Tower to the Jack Daniel’s Distillery, and everything in between. Ach also loved trying new and different foods, from muffaletta to Rocky Mountain oysters and from lingua to smelts, though his favorite was always sushi. For years, he and Kathy would have regular date nights at the range, followed by a sushi boat dinner.

When your wife’s birthday falls on Christmas Eve, you inevitably become a Christmas fanatic. What began as a small Christmas village collection, grew into an elaborate display of more than 100 Department 56 pieces that covered their entire living room. Ach embraced Kathy’s love of decorating, encouraging her tradition of placing Christmas trees in every window of the house. He also proudly led the family in preparing the Italian American tradition of the Feast of the Seven Fishes each Christmas Eve.

Over the past year, he helped raise his beloved grandson. Nothing lit up his face quite like seeing “the guy.” To Patrick, he was “Nonno,” and he had been planning to teach him Italian, even preparing flash cards for when Patrick began talking. Ach delighted in watching him learn to walk in his Jeep, dance to the opening song from Perry Mason, and, of course, try sushi for the first time.

Achilles will be laid to rest at Limerick Garden of Memories.

Add My Condolences

Dearest Kathy, we have no words to express the deep sadness we feel on this unexpected notice .In life it’s expected to lose parents and in my case being the youngest, all my siblings ,but my beloved “Ach” and two nieces and two other nephews , I am beyond grief. I have been an uncle since I was six years old ,82 yrs. They were and are more younger brothers and sisters than nephews and nieces. Ach I always knew bordered on genius. He was seven yrs old and he set up a drainage system at the convent for the nuns who were having a water problem in the backyard garden. My parents eyes lit up when he came to our home from a little boy on and wouid converse with them in Italian, how proud we all were when just finishing pharmacy school he became the youngest hospital pharmacy manager in Phila history. An Eagle Scout, won schlorships , as a young man not yet 30 yrs old ,had an idea for a drugstore chain and began with two pharmacies before there was a CVS. More importantly he was the kindest ,caring and generous of human beings. We wish you well and hope that you will find solace in knowing the wonderful life that you shared was a blessing. Many times he told me all the happiness he enjoyed was because he found a wonderful life partner. Che Dio Lu Abbe en Gloria. May he rest in the glory of God .He will be Eternally Missed. Our love to you and Stephanie and family

I was lucky enough to move next door to Ach and Kathy in 1996. We became fast friends sharing many things in common from ethnicity, religion, food and politics! Ach was always there for me when I needed help. Our first encounter was when I just moved in and set off the alarm the builder left. Luckily, Ach knew the code! That began 25 years of a great friendship. Ach was always caring and funny. He had a great sense of humor and I will miss him always.
