Daniel A. Furmanski Sr., 52

Daniel Alexander Furmanski, Sr., 52, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 24, 2026, at his home in Schwenksville.

Born in Doylestown, he was the son of Carolyn A. (King) Furmanski and the late Alexander M. Furmanski.

Dan was a family man before he was anything else. He loved going all out decorating the house for the holidays, especially for his children. And when he wasn't being the best dad ever, he enjoyed travelling to New Hampshire, camping, taking annual ski trips to Vermont, and, most of all, spending time with his family and friends.

He was also a lifelong model train enthusiast and avid collector. Every year, he shared that love with his family on their trips to PLS, where they spent the weekend running trains and hanging out with his buddies. His love for the hobby didn’t stop there. He and his son, Daniel Jr., even turned it into a family business, opening and running their first-generation standard-gauge model train company together, Trainmakers.

Daniel is survived by his daughter, Adrienne Jarvis, partner of Destiny; his son, Daniel Alexander Furmanski Jr.; and his mother, Carolyn Furmanski. He is predeceased by his brother, Jeffrey Furmanski, and his father, Alexander Furmanski.

Services will be held privately, with a celebration of life to be planned by the family at a later date.

In place of memorial contributions, donations may be made to Pennsylvania Live Steamers (https://www.palivesteamers.org/) in Daniel’s name.

We were very sorry to hear of Dan’s passing. Dan was a genuinely nice guy and a great friend and supporter of Henning’s Trains. We always enjoyed when he and his son Daniel would stop by the shop—whether they were looking for parts, talking trains, or sharing some of their knowledge with us. Their enthusiasm for the hobby was always evident, and Dan was truly one of the good guys in the model train community.

Our sincere condolences go out to Daniel and the entire Furmanski family. Dan will certainly be missed by all of us at Henning’s Trains.

I am so sorry for your loss.

I have many, many fond memories, the four of us cousins, growing up together! We had such great experiences--skiing, camping, sitting and watching the train layout in the basement for hours.

The last time we caught up we talked about how he was back to skiing and we revived some of our memories from vacations past. We skied home one day for lunch, got locked out and I am pretty sure they hoisted me through the window to open the door!

We had a blast at my wedding, and he adored my daughters.

I will keep those memories even closer in my heart with his passing. Death is not end. Until we meet again, rest in peace, cousin Dan!

Dan was a talented and passionate builder of tinplate trains. His standard gauge friends will miss seeing him at the Train Collectors Association meets in York. Rest in peace my friend.

Our nephew, Danny as we called him, gone way too soon.
He loved my pecan pie and he always stopped by on Thanksgiving to get a piece or two. It loved it almost as much as trains. Saw him and Daniel 3 months ago, sat out on our deck, had a nice visit. I will treasure that memory and all the many, many others we have of us together.

I met Dan and Daniel jr thru the SGMA Zoom calls.
I could quickly see how talented they were together. I had thought about ordering a set, when they released even more items. I could not decide what to order. Dan would often tell me "just order them all!"

It was obvious that he really enjoyed building the standard gauge train. However, I think he even cherished the time with his son Daniel even more.

We all have lost a great and talented friend who will be severely missed and thought of daily

Dan was such an enthusiastic supporter of his family and of the standard gauge trait he built with his son. Dan and his son made my toy train dreams come true as he has some for many others. There is a small hole in my heart and I will miss him. We were all blessed to have known him and I pray that his family will heal and remember to the good times while hopefully creating more.
