Andrew W. Velas, Sr., 95, of Towanda, formerly of Warrington, husband of the late Sarah Ann (Shields) Velas, passed away Saturday September 5, 2026 at Robert Packer Hospital in Towanda.
Born in Philadelphia, he moved to Warrington in 1965. He was the son of the late Martin and Elizabeth (Harvilla) Velas. Andrew joined the PA National Guard in 1949, serving four years. He was employed by the Fisher & Porter Company for many years before his retirement. Andrew was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to travel with his wife Sarah, through the United States and Europe. Andrew enjoyed spending time with his family and sharing stories.
Surviving are his sons Andrew Velas husband of Sue and Martin Velas husband of Ronnie; grandchildren Andrew James Velas, Joshua Velas, Laura Velas, Michael Sutton, Sean Sutton, Tori Velas, and Taryn Velas; 3 great grandchildren; and sister Mary Mahon.
Along with his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his daughters Michelle Velas and Sallyann Sutton.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday September 18, 2026 at 11:00 AM at St. Robert Bellarmine, 856 Euclid Ave., Warrington, PA 18976. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Philadelphia. Visitation will held Friday from 10:00-10:45 AM at the church.
