Idelfa (Mainegra) Verdecia, 87, of Gilbertsville, wife of the late Santiago Verdecia, passed away Monday September 14, 2026 at Pennsburg Manor.
Born in Las Villas, Cuba, she was the daughter of the late Eduardo Mainegra and Fortuna (Ruiz) Mainegra. Idelfa emigrated from Cuba to the United States in 1969 and proudly became a United States citizen.
Idelfa was a devout Catholic. She was an amazing cook whose greatest joy was feeding the people she loved. Her passionate storytelling filled our home with laughter and kept our family history alive. She had a lifelong love for photography capturing countless memories for friends and family.
Surviving is son Lou Verdecia; her daughter Maria Stelacio wife of Christopher; and grandchildren Ava and CJ Stelacio.
Along with her husband and parents, she was predeceased by one brother and two sisters.
A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday September 22, 2026 at 11:00 AM at St. Teresa of Calcutta, 256 Swamp Pike, Schwenksville, PA 19473. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 10:00-10:45 AM at the church.
