Kathleen “Kathy” Elizabeth Bretz, 77, passed away on September 9, 2026.
Born on February 13, 1949, in Denver, Colorado, to James and Mary Conroy, Kathy lived a life centered on faith, family, and caring for others. She was married for fifty-one years to her beloved husband, Floyd “Tim” Timmins Bretz, who preceded her in death on April 15, 2024.
Kathy was a devoted mother to Trina, Peter, and Jeffrey, who were the greatest joy of her life. She loved them deeply and was enormously proud of each of them. She was a loving sister to Mary Alcorn, a cherished sister-in-law to Linda and Bob Quinn and the late Jan and Donald Pankratz, and aunt to Heather Quinn, who preceded her in death, Dan Quinn, Diane Fuquay, Michael Pankratz, and Linda Piescienski.
Kathy graduated from Cardinal Dougherty High School and went on to earn a degree in psychology from Drexel University. She was a longtime employee of Omega Design Corporation in Exton.
A lifelong and faithful Catholic, she was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Downingtown, where she taught CCD for years. Her steadfast faith was an important source of strength and comfort throughout her life, and she took great care to instill those beliefs and values in her children.
Kathy gave generously of her time. She served as a den mother for Cub Scouts and volunteered with Hospice and Meals on Wheels. She was a dedicated power walker and an avid reader. She enjoyed traveling with her family and especially loved a family vacation to England and France, where Buckingham Palace and the Normandy beaches were her favorite stops. She also treasured her memories of quiet weekends at her sister’s cabin in the Poconos.
Kathy was a passionate Philadelphia sports fan who loved listening to WIP sports talk radio and cheering on all the Philadelphia teams, especially the Phillies and Eagles. She was thrilled to see the Eagles win two Super Bowls.
Above all, Kathy loved caring for her family. She was an amazing cook who made holidays, birthdays, and even everyday occasions feel special. She loved gardening, sewing, and playing the piano, and when her children were young, she made their Halloween costumes and holiday outfits.
Kathy will be deeply missed by her children, family, and friends. She will always be remembered for the kindness she showed, the faith she lived, and the love she gave so generously.
