Our loving father, George Carl Walker, 85, of Pottstown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 10, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at Reading Hospital in Reading.
Born in Pottstown, he was the son of the late Harry Norman Walker and Chrystal (Carver) Walker.
George is survived by his two daughters, Cheryl Cutillo (Paul) and Bernadette Muthersbaugh (James); his grandchildren, Brett Cutillo (Krista), Deanna Pieffer (Justin), Derik Muthersbaugh (Amanda), Maryrose Bowers (Jon), Bianca Fisher (Jeffrey), and Michael-Alan McCoy (Sara); and his beloved great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Ellen Walker; his daughter, Rose McCoy; his grandson, Thomas McCoy; his brother, William Walker; and his sisters, Betty Shanely and Loretta Chabach.
In his youth, George played baseball and was a member of a competitive roller speed skating team. It was at the roller skating rink that he met the love of his life, Mary Ellen Wallace of Phoenixville. They later married and had three lovely daughters.
Early in his family life, George worked as a baker at Schultz’s Bakery in Pottstown. He then went on to work down the street at Fecera’s Furniture in Pottstown, in the carpet department. For several years, he ran his own business, George’s Carpet Service. Before retiring, he worked at APR in Pottstown and QDI in Royersford as a heating and ventilation manager, assembling ventilation systems for new and existing construction projects.
George spent many years as captain of the Upper Pottsgrove Firehouse pool and dart leagues. He made many friends over the years through these social activities. While employed at Fecera’s, he also enjoyed playing in the company’s adult men’s league.
George was an avid sports fan, to say the least. Although the Philadelphia Eagles and Philadelphia Phillies were his favorites, there was hardly a sport he didn’t enjoy watching.
He spent many summers in Rehoboth Beach with his family and young grandchildren. George and Mary also enjoyed traveling with friends, boating, and water skiing on various lakes throughout Pennsylvania.
As much as George enjoyed visiting Hollywood Casino, what he cherished most was spending time with his daughters and their families, celebrating holidays, and gathering with loved ones.
He is and forever will be sadly missed.
